熱いトタン屋根の猫
ミシシッピー州の大農園の邸宅に、当主ビッグ・ダディが病院での検査を終えて帰ってくる。ビッグ・ダディはガンで余命わずかと診断されていたが、本人はそのことを知らない。莫大な遺産を狙う長男一家が父を異常なほどに歓待する一方、次男ブリックと美しい妻マギーの間には冷え切った空気が漂う。しかしビッグ・ダディは昔から、長男一家より次男夫婦の方を気に入っていた。酒に溺れ妻の愛も父の遺産も受け取ることを拒否するブリックにいら立ちを募らせたマギーは、ついにブリックの亡き親友スキッパーの名前を口にしてしまう。
