年过四十、其貌不扬的中年大叔立花（佐藤二朗 饰）虽然身为刑警，但也许他更享受资深B级美食老饕的头衔。他的足迹遍布日本各地美食场，为了那些又好吃又便宜的庶民美食一掷千金，在所不惜。当然他也因为过于贪吃而在行动中跟丢嫌犯，结果被降职到城西警署。幸运的是这里也聚集了一群资深吃货，从听到美食就口水直流的今野副署长（温水洋一 饰），到与立花盘道抗衡互秀吃货经验的韭泽课长（小泽仁志 饰），再到小警察村中（河西智美 饰）、五岛（铃木身来 饰），大家往往讨论起好吃的食物和地处城市各个角落的特色店时，心驰神往，甚至忘记了身边的嫌犯。 不过在这一通天南海北扯闲篇儿的过程中，案情也朝着柳暗花明的方向发展。到底立花是一个纯粹爱吃的酒囊饭袋？还是一名拥有缜密聪慧头脑的大侦探呢？
